Sunday 3rd February was a perfect day for racing as hot favourite La Bague Au Roi did the business for the visiting English connections in the Flogas Novice Chase at the second annual Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown.
Ridden by Richard Johnson OBE, the brilliant mare cruised past the opposition to win comfortably, justifying trainer Warren Greatrex's shrewd decision to ‘cross the pond’ with his stable star, who has now won 14 of her 19 starts. Kaiser Black, ridden by Davy Russell, had a career best race to come in second followed by Hardline, ridden by Jack Kennedy.
John Rooney, managing director, Flogas Ireland, said “It was a cracking day of racing for everyone involved and a real coup to have such a talented horse like La Bague Au Roi competing in the Flogas Novice Chase. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
Speaking after the final race of the weekend, Leopardstown CEO Pat Keogh said: "For an event only in its second year we are absolutely delighted with how Dublin Racing Festival has established itself. A big thank you must go to all the owners and trainers for providing blockbuster entertainment on track and to our wonderful sponsors. “
