Flogas hosts Trio of Olympic Business Breakfasts in the run up to Paris 2024

Flogas is the official energy partner for the Irish Olympic Team heading to Paris 2024, celebrating 100 years of Team Ireland, with more than 120 athletes competing in what will  be one of the most anticipated sporting events in Ireland this summer.

To highlight the partnership, the Flogas Olympic Business Breakfast Series in Dublin, Cork and Northern Ireland from March to May 2024 teamed some of the most high-profile names in athletics, boxing, gymnastics and rowing with management and sports psychologists to discuss the world of high-level sporting performance and the attendant personal and professional demands.

Hosted by Beijing 2008 Olympian and Flogas brand ambassador David Gillick, the guest line up for the Dublin breakfast in March was the Tokyo 2020 Olympian sprinter Sophie Becker, now a silver medallist in the 4 x 400 women’s relay at the 2024 European Championships and Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist, boxer Kenneth Egan with special guest speaker, Jim Gavin, the very successful manager of the men’s senior Dublin GAA football team from 2012-2019.

The Cork Breakfast in April teamed Tokyo 2020 Olympian and World Championship silver and bronze medallist rower Philip Doyle with the London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist and 2013 World Champion 50km race walker Robert Heffernan and special guest speaker sports psychologist and performance coach Caroline Currid, well-known for her work with four All-Ireland winning GAA teams.

The speakers at the Northern Ireland Business Breakfast in May were artistic gymnast Rhys McClenaghan, Tokyo 2020 Olympian and World Championship double gold medallist (2022 and 2023) also RTE’s 2023 Sportsperson of the Year, with fellow Tokyo 2020 Olympian and the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold medallist boxer Michaela Walsh and Dr Paul Gaffney, the Head of Psychology for Team Ireland.

The very popular and well attended Breakfasts produced fascinating insights, anecdotes and the sharing of ‘epiphany’ experiences by the athletes and those who work to prepare them physically and mentally for some of the biggest sporting moments of their lives.

Peter Sherrard, chief executive, Olympic Federation of Ireland attended all three events and he said: We were delighted to welcome Flogas as a proud partner of Team Ireland last year. Their work with Team Ireland delivers on so many fronts, within high-performance support and innovation as well as personal supports to athletes to assist them in a variety of life-skills. We are very grateful for the energy they bring to helping our athletes achieve their goals ahead of the Paris 2024 Games and beyond.”

John Rooney, managing director, Flogas Ireland said: "Flogas is immensely proud to be the official energy partner for Team Ireland at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Through the Flogas Olympic Business Breakfast Series we've had the privilege of bringing together some of the most inspiring names in sports, which have provided invaluable insights into the dedication, resilience, and mental strength required at the highest levels of competition. We are honoured to have facilitated such powerful conversations and we look forward to witnessing the incredible achievements of Team Ireland in Paris and continuing our support for their journey to success."
