The inaugural Flogas Bake-Off, organised by the company’s Social Club Committee, was a resounding success and raised €1,572.00 for the Marie Keating Foundation. Fundraising director Linda Keating turned up to accept the cheque and sample the culinary expertise of the winners at a presentation in the Flogas offices in Drogheda on Tuesday 17 February 2015.
The overall winners were Nadine Duffy for her White Chocolate and Berry Cheesecake; Emma Dillon for her Raspberry Meringue Roulade and Claire Connolly for her Chocolate Orange Cake. The winning recipes were incorporated into a booklet, the sales of which also boosted the total fundraising tally.
Linda said, “"We are so grateful to all the team at the Flogas head office for supporting the Marie Keating Foundation through their bake off and recipe book. It's amazing that baking cakes can help save lives but the funds that Flogas has raised for us will help us keep offering all our services free of charge, so we can keep our mobile information units on the road, visiting schools, community centres and disadvantaged communities, and so we can keep our Comfort Fund going, giving grants to families who are struggling financially as a result of cancer. We want to say a huge "thank you" to everyone who took part."
Mary McNally from the Flogas social club, said “We were delighted with the response and our thanks to everyone who produced some fabulously mouth-watering entries for this competition and those who temporarily sacrificed their
waistlines in support of this great cause! “
