Flogas Brand Ambassador Gary Murphy - Fedex Tour Championship
Fedex Tour Championship
All the focus this week will be geared to see who can capture all the loot in Atlanta. The final tournament on the "24 season on the PGATOUR will determine the number 1 player. The two best players this season Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele will start the week as the most likely to achieve the ultimate player title.
Golf has never done what it is supposed to do and surely this week will be no different?
Keegan Bradley upset the apple cart last week going from last man in to winning in Colorado. Some might say it is what there are trying to achieve will playoff golf. I think returning to the same venue at East Lake in Atlanta has helped many to become comfortable. It has proved a certain player type can win.
When the best players and only 30 of them come together it can produce fireworks. All have reached this point their own way but all have a brilliant season in common at differing levels. The redesign of the course might help the first timers. Aberg and Lowry both will feel they can finish off the season and gain their maximum reward The monetary value whilst substantial is just an added bonus. The ultimate prize is victory amongst your peers.
Shane as a first timer will be like a kid in a candy store. Granted he has achieved great feats in his sport. This is breaking new ground. I am hoping that might be the spark for a week to remember Aberg has an opportunity in his first full season to win the Fedex Tour Championship which is truly remarkable. Hilarious to hear the talk of a nearly man in some quarters but that is because of his ability.
The top two deserve to battle it out and the vote for player of the year is not settled yet. That is the perfect scenario. The Women's Irish Open at Carton House is also a huge and very exciting week Leona Maguire will headline. Her first LET victory for an Irish woman was hopefully the glass ceiIing. To win on home soil is the ultimate. Her rise has really inspired the next generation and we are seeing some exciting talent emerge.
Lauren Walsh as a Kildare native will be pumped for that leading home player accolade. With the talent on show that could lead to a home victory. I always felt that if you could lead the home charge you would never to too far away from the ultimate prize. We also have excellent amateurs that are turning professional and this is an important week to get them started. I am myself in action this week on the European Legends Tour in India. It is a privilege to be competing andsomething still inspiring is possible.
Life on the road is difficult and challenging so I do envy the women with their home comforts this week. The game is still the same and we all have our mini battles to win.I will also be keeping an eye out forLiam Nolan who gets a Challenge Tour start. He is moving into the professional ranks and this week will be a huge learning curve.
Hopefully we are coming out the other side of a lull with talent coming through the ranks. Get yourself down to Carton House and support the home Challenge.
